About

I’m an herbnerd and potter based in the Connecticut River valley of western Massachusetts. I dove into pottery as part of a sabbatical from technical work. Six years as a technician at a university, four years writing a book on the safety of herbs (an onerous and completely fascinating endeavor), and seven years of product development & product safety work for a wonderful medicinal tea company. All amazing stuff, and I’m incredibly grateful to have had work that is personally meaningful to me, but I spent so much time researching herbs, writing about herbs, swimming in regulations, and staring at a computer screen that I needed to take a break to reconnect with the magic and beauty of the plants and spend time with the plants themselves. It has been such an amazing gift to take time to look more closely at plants, observe them as they grow during the course of a season, and collaborate with them to make this pottery. We hope that the pottery will deepen your relationship with plants and remind you of the profound beauty that they create.

Most of the pottery is thrown on the potters wheel. I occasionally use slip casting (in handmade molds) or handbuilding to make pieces. Unless otherwise noted, all work is food safe, made for daily use. Work can be washed in dishwashers and heated in microwaves.
